During our stamp retreat, Heather offered us a sketch challenge. I looked through the stamps I had with me and decided to do something with my pirate set. I had bought it to scrapbook a pirate murder mystery party I had last year, but hadn't used it yet. Here's what I came up with. BTW, I drew a lot of the images on the map because the stamps were simply too big for what I wanted on this card. You can't tell from the pic, but an extra touch was adding metallic gold to the treasure chest and the hook.
Recipe:
CS: White, Brown from Penelope collection
Papers: scrap of tan for map
Stamps: from the Pirates set by TAC
Inks: Palette Ink - Burnt Umber, Noir
Other: Gold leafing pen, Watercolor pencils, Pop dots, stipple brush, Tombow blending pen
I played some more with the sweet skunks set and like these results much better than yesterday's. I decided that embossing them with clear EP definitely made for a cleaner, sharper image. Here it is with simple CS layering and a few fun embellishments
And here it is with decorative papers from the Genevieve collection. I think these colors suit this set well.
Recipe for Yellow Card:
CS - Yellow, Pink DCWV, White
Stamps - Sweet Skunks (TAC)
Ink - Black Pigment
Other - clear Embossing Pwdr (EP), heat tool, watercolor pencils, aquabrush, ribbon, brads, flower embellishments
Recipe for Purple Card:
CS - Plum, White
Papers - Genevieve Collection (TAC)
Stamps - Sweet Skunks (TAC)
Ink - Black Pigment Ink
Other - Clear embossing pwdr, Watercolor pencils, aquabrush, Ribbon
Wanted to share the Scrapbook pages I did recently of my cruise to Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia back in May. (I’m way behind on scrapping; there have been 3 other trips since then).
These pages feature the Hemingway Soar with it Collection, the matching cardstock and ribbon. Look how much you can do with just that. And I even had leftovers. I haven’t journaled on some of these yet, but you get the idea. Click on a picture for a larger view.
For the opening pages, I used one of my favorite alphabet sets: TAC’s AlphaGrunge. I stamped the letters onto coordinating paper and look, it’s all matchy-matchy! (Try not to notice that I glued the N upside down). I did use a couple of store bought sticker and vellum accents and TAC’s Girls Night Out Stamp Set.By the way, I have to point out one of my favorite scrapbooking tricks. I usually order my prints from Kodak gallery. I’m quite the shutterbug, so I take tons of pictures. I have come to terms with the fact that I just can’t scrap them all. I can, however, get more pics in when I make mini photos (you’ll see several in these samples). I do that by making collage prints. You can pick and choose which prints you put into your collage. I usually do 9 on a 5 x 7 sheet. It’s about $1.99. A little pricier than prints, but so compact, it actually saves me a lot of scrapbook pages. So in the long run, I think it works out cheaper and saves me time. So I order my favorite pics in regular prints and order the next best ones in collage format.
So now we come to the Victoria section of the pages. For the word, “Victoria”, I used my extra postcards and brochures to cut out the letters, which was a good way to jam all those pics in. I freehanded them and just adhered to the misty turquoise CS to make a mat. This gives a sense of unity and keeps the letters from blending into the page.
Just a scrap of the printed paper in each corner of this spread helps unify the pages.
Again with the cut and collage letters. I did add one clearance sticker (the one that reads, “special”). Now I just need to do my journaling. The Soar With it Collections really make scrapbooking easy.
